Shugo Tokumaru – Exit (2007)

Someone as absurdly talented as Shugo Tokumaru should really not be having issues getting reliable worldwide distribution at this point in his career. If experimental pop fans everywhere were only to rise up as one hilariously awkward but extremely well dressed unit and demand that people start listening to music that might actually be worth a damn then I think Shugo could be well placed to be the standard bearer. In addition there is something so completely charming about hearing someone attempt to pronounce a word like ‘Parachute’ for the duration of a song before realising it was the English word and not something in Japanese. Think multiple instrumentation, think loving production, think wonderful pacing and think memorable songs. Think Shugo.
