Part two in a series documenting exceptional Australian Independent releases of the past 15 years
Sandpit were a Melbourne indie scene fixture from 1994 to 1998. This album was their last release – and in my opinion, their masterpiece. Created amidst the tumultuous dissolution of Singer/Guitarst Brendan Webb’s relationship with bass player (and current Something For Kate bassist) Stephanie Ashworth, this is an album steeped in all the angst and tension you’d expect, but expressed in a way that essentially defines the Australian indie-guitar landscape to this day. Just so underrated.
